The Arab-Israeli Wars of 1967 and 1973

I was first attracted to these conflicts because of the armor battles and mix of both modern and WW2 vehicles on the same battlefield. While infantry played a tremendous part in many battles, I tend to focus on the armored conflicts in 1/285th scale.

One of my first games in this period is depicted below.

Early in the battle, Israeli M48s attack and are barely visible in the upper left portion of the image. Egyptian BTR50s can be seen west of the village, while Egyptian tanks are deployed south of the village.

Egyptian tanks and infantry at the start of the game as seen from the east.

View from of the village from the west taken around the same time as the photo above. The Israeli M48s are still just dark bumps in the distance.

The Israeli M48s eventually clashed with a small Egyptian force protecting the north flank of the village, the flank collapsed, and the Egyptians could not reposition quickly enough to counter the Israeli forces.

Terrain and buildings are scratchbuilt, vehicles are GHQ and CinC, Infantry is H&R.
