The First battle

The first battle of my campaign took place at objective A59, a border checkpoint with a small village just inside the Uwandan side of the border. The attack took place at night, and involved a small rebel force from the Uwandan Liberation Front (ULF) over-running the border checkpoint and trying to take control of the village.

Rebels worked their way through the brush and stormed the border post, much to the surprise of the snoozing border police inside. The first phase achieved without a shot.

Rebels surrounding the village elder's house. The elder and the handful of village guard men fought off the rebels, despite being out-numbered four to one. The Rebels managed to kill a couple of villagers, and each other (it was a night battle with poor visibility), but none of the village guard.

A couple of days later in a village a little south of that above...

The local village chief, on the roof of the building to the upper left was speaking to his villagers about the noble cause of the ULF, when the crowd went on a rampage (it was helped by ULF freedom fighters inter-mixed amongst the crowd). Uwandan forces were present, as trouble had been anticipated (unfortunately I didn't take any pics until well after the shooting had started.

The village chief rejoicing in the chaos that he has caused.

Uwandan army troops fought hard but were caught divided, and ambushed. Both forces suffered heavy losses, but the town was lost to the rebels.

Meanwhile, back at objective A59, Uwanda Army troops were deployed to protect the village against any further ULF attacks.

The border guards (in the older green uniforms) get some firepower in the way of a ferret.

Uwandan army troops discover that they are both outnumbered and surrounded as ULF militia advance.

Mugabian forces show themselves, and despite taking heavy losses, force Uwanda to withdraw from town. A59 is lost to the enemy.

Sometime later, after failed negotiations, Uwanda throws diplomacy to the wind, and decides to take the town by force.

The Mugabian perimeter holds firm with a captured Saracen along the west side of town.

Fireflies advance...and then blow up under intense fire from artillery, recoiless rifles and especially RPGs.

The fate of objective A59 is decided. Mugabian BTRs counter-attack, sweeping up fragments of Uwandan forces.
